Girl Scouts Jersey Shore – Shore Pines Region

Date – Saturday, February 25^th, 2012

Time – 2-5 pm (set up begins at 1:00)

Cost - $3.00 per girl (includes patch, trivia game, and goody bag)

Place – Ocean Acres Community Center

Open to – all levels – Manahawkin/LBI

Travel the globe and learn different celebrations from around the world.  Each troop will have the opportunity to present a dance, song, skit, or information from their celebration for the rest of the girls to see.  Also, sample different traditional foods from each celebration/country.  A trivia game will also be offered.

To follow along with the 2012 World Thinking Day Theme, “We Save Our Planet,” we will have a collection box at the event for bottle caps that will be donated to Alliance for a Living Ocean on LBI.

Each troop needs:

• A sign stating the celebration and your troop info (try to stay away from the well-known holidays/celebrations, I have a list of ideas if you need one)
• Info needed – name of celebration, where celebrated, when celebrated, how celebrated, why celebrated
• A traditional food item, drink, or snack to share at event and plated to serve each troops food on. (Number of girls will be given mid-February)
• Each troop is responsible for their own paper goods, utensils, and drinks for their troop
• Each troop is also responsible to bring their own table to display their celebration
• Stamp or sticker for passports representing your celebrations (up to 2 inch x 2 inch in size) (mailing labels cut in half work great)
• If you want, you can have activity, handout, music, etc, at your table

Each troop will have up to 5 minutes to present a song, dance, skit, or information
