International Fair

On Saturday March 12
Girl Scout’s
will celebrate it’s 99th Birthday!
To commemorate this special occasion we will host an
International Fair. The Theme will be
Islands Around the World
In the Spirit of Supper in the States and International
Day each troop will represent the Islands in Our
World. Be as creative as you would like with this.
You can go right here in our back yard (LBI) or
halfway around the world. The only “rule” is it MUST
be an Island.
April 2nd 2pm-5pm Set up begins at 1pm
Cost $2.25 per scout includes a patch
4:40 pm parents are invited to tour the displays.
Once you have chosen an island email it to mrsincredible1@aol.com. After you have registered
prepare a representation of your island. You are responsible for your whole display so if you
need a table please bring it. The size limit is approx a 3x3 card table. You could also use a
children’s wagon or create a long poster size representation for the perimeter of the room.
Please let me know what you are bringing for floor arrangement and wall space. Whatever your
display it should include geographical information (map), history, art, music, and scouting
information from the chosen Island as well as:
• A sign clearly stating the Island you are representing and your Troop information.
• A Luggage bag for each of your scouts to collect all their goodies. This can be a small gift
bag purchased at Michaels or something handmade.
• A tag to give out for each traveler’s cases. (see ideas below) (Final # needed will be given
mid March)
• 2 clues or items that can be spied at your Island Display for an “I Spy Hunt!”
• A traditional food item, drink or snack to share at the event. Any eating utensils necessary
for your food. Food should be set on plates in servings of 6 or 12 so each troop can just grab
a plate or two and bring it to their table. Please provide a print out for each troop of any
pertinent nutrition info needed about your food as well as a recipe if applicable.
• Each troop is responsible for their own paper goods, utensils and drinks.
During touring time feel free to set up some music or provide a craft to bring your Island to
life.
